Who Are We?

For the most part, We is Me :) When we is more than just Me, We are a collection of associates I have worked with over the last 10 years, including DBA’s, helpdesk staff, other sys admins, web designers, and developers.

I am Doug Peterson. I am a unix and networking guru, with a particular fondness of production environments, and solving the troubles that plague them. I don’t claim to know everything, in fact every day that goes by, reminds me just how much there is that I don’t know. I do however claim to be able to find the answer to just about anything :) The first glimpse into the rest of my life was the first time I used my 2400 baud modem to connect to a local BBS. Later, In the mid 90’s, I was introduced to my new best friend, the World Wide Web (albeit with a SLIP connection). In 1997, I went to work for a small internet provider near San Luis Obispo, CA, and have been a productive member of the Internet ever since :)

Over the last 10 years I’ve managed production environments ranging from 5 to several hundred servers. I have gained extensive experience with DNS, mail, web servers, SAN, OS and application performance tuning, call centers, IPsec, SSL, PKI, load balancing, monitoring, log correlation, remote access, long haul circuits, Business Continuity Planning (Disaster Recovery), and many others.

My hobbies are not limited to computers, I also enjoy jeeping, cooking, eating, gardening, geocaching, and most recently sailing.
